Trinity vs. Bective
February 28th 2011 Match report thanks to Conor Donnelly Bective enjoyed a 21-11 win over Trinity on the back pitch of Donnybrook last Monday night. Both sides traded a pair of early penalty kicks to leave the score at six a piece ten minutes into the half. On fifteen minutes more ill discipline by the visitors resulted in a scrum for Bective just inside the Trinity twenty-two. The Bective pack, which has been strength of the team on every level all season, once again displayed its power by driving back Trinity. After drawing Trinity defenders in with multiple pick and go’s Bective went wide and were reward for that decsion when a lovely turn of pace by left winger Shane Williams saw Rangers run in for the first try of the contest and a 13-6 lead. |

J1 League Bective vs. St. Mary's 10th January 2011 Match report thanks to Conor Donnelly Bective suffered a heavy defeat by 29-8 at the hands of a daring and impressive St.Marys under the lights last Monday in Donnybrook. It was a frenetic game played in front of a strong turnout that included literally one man and his dog. Rangers were looking to carry the momentum of the strong performance enjoyed on Saturday by the senior team. Twelve minutes in and Rangers opened the scoring when they were awarded a penalty just outside the twenty-two after Marys jumped offside. The kick just missed but sometimes opportunity knocks at the most unexpected time. Marys had the twenty- two drop out blocked and some alert thinking and great work rate saw the home side seize the ball and score the opening try of the game through Trevor Manning to enjoy an early 5-0 lead. St.Mary looked to play the game at a breakneck pace throughout the game and sought to inject pace into their play whenever they had possession. They played with a style similar to that of Arsenal, creative and daring to watch but at times players sometimes over complicated matters for themselves and ran in to dead ends when perhaps a simpler option would have been the correct one to take. |

J1 League Bective vs. Old Wesley 13th December 2010 Match report thanks to Conor Donnelly Bective lost 28-20 to Neighbours Old Wesley in an entertaining festive J1 league showdown in Donnybrook on Monday. In what was effectively a home match for both teams Bective started the brighter of the two and on six minutes scored the first try of the match off a well-worked move from a ruck inside the Wesley twenty two that saw Mike South race in to put Rangers 7-0 up. Bective nearly crossed the line again four minutes later after some kamikaze decision- making by the Wesley defence saw them try and run the ball from just 5 meters away from their own line. A loose pass out near the touchline was intercepted but some last gasp defending by Wesley saved the day as they isolated the Bective player and forced a penalty in their favour. Bective were enjoying the majority of the possession and were looking the more threatening of the two sides. It wasn’t until the 12th minute of the match that Wesley created their first scoring chance. |

J1 League Bective vs. Dublin University 15th November 2010 Match report thanks to Conor Donnelly Bective suffered a 30-9 defeat at the hands of an impressive Dublin University Team in a frosty Donnybrook last Monday. The students took a 3-0 lead one minute into the game. Bective responded soon after with three points of their own with a penalty from inside the DU Twenty Two. Unfortunately for Bective that would be their last trip to that piece of real estate for a while as the students pinned them back deep in their own territory for a sustained period. The students jabbed at the Bective defence but failed to land the knockout blow as the home side swallowed up the swarm of red and black jerseys that relentlessly tried to find a way through. Indeed the visitors only came away with 3 points when seven looked to be a certainty. |

J1 League Bective vs. Clontarf 1st November 2010 Match report thanks to Conor Donnelly Bective Rangers 2nd suffered a 25-18 defeat at the hands of Clontarf in a post Halloween Thriller at a Chilly Donnybrook Stadium Monday Night. Carrying the momentum from the 1st teams hard fought 11-10 victory away at Thomond Park at the weekend; Bective looked to turn Donnybrook into a house of Horrors for the visitors. The home team took an early lead from a penalty. Rangers continued to apply pressure and Clontarf conceded another penalty after failing to deal with a chip through by scrum half Will Hanley that pinned Tarf deep in their own 22. From the resulting lineout Bective drove their way over the line to score an unconverted try and race out to 8-0 lead after 10 minutes. |
