1st  OFFICIAL  COMMUNICATION  OF  THE  NEW  SEASON  –  2008 / 09

I am delighted to announce and let you know that we have finalised our Coaching team for the coming season.

A three man team has been appointed with the sole objective to get the Club into Division 1 of the AIL.

The team is:

1. Kevin Lewis – Head Coach
2. Philip Doyle (AKA GOOSE) – Forwards Coach
3. Wayne Mitchell – Backs Coach

A brief intro:

Kevin - comes to us from Tullamore RFC where he won the Towns Cup and was a finalist in the AIB Junior cup last year. kevin has also coached the Leinster Juniors and Railway Union. Kevin also coaches Pres Bray SCT.

Philip – has coached in Blackrock RFC (Div 1), been the IRFU ladies head coach and more recently was forwards coach to DLSP last season.

Wayne – is an RDO for the Leinster Branch, working closely with Phil Lawlor.  He has been head coach at Boyne RFC and is currently the coach to Belvedere SCT and was successful in winning the SCT last year.

In addition, to the above, I am delighted to let you know that Richard Maybury and Alan McGovern will manage the squad and that Kevin O’Farrell will again coach the J1 side, which as you may or may not know - our aim will be that the J1 is an Under 23s team next season.

To kick-off the new season, we have planned a squad meeting next Wednesday June 4th.  The meeting will kick off at 6.30pm sharp in the Club House at Donnybrook and will be followed at 7.45pm by a fitness test at St Olaf’s GAA Club (up from the Goat pub on way to Sandyford Ind est).  So we will have to leave Donnybrook at 7.30pm sharp.  Following the test, join us for a pint in the Goat pub.

The meeting with the coaching team is basically an introduction to the team, outline our plans for summer training and when we will officially get back together as a squad for pre-season.  We will have a good 5/6 weeks of pre-season, then into the Leddin Cup, go on tour to Poland on September 19th (for 4 days) and then back and prepare for the AIL – which will commence mid October.

Can I finally on behalf of the President (Fergus Flanagan), players, management, committee, welcome the new coaching team and new squad players to Bective and I look forward to working with you all next season and getting Bective into Div one of AIL.
