to discuss the Vets League for season 2009-2010.
Seven teams have entered the league this year, as follows,:
Bective Rangers FC, Carlow RFC, Lansdowne FC, Malahide RFC, St. Marys RFC, Suttonians RFC and Wanderers FC.
Last year's Champions, Wanderers, were represented by Paul Whelan, who brought along the Kielys of Donnybrook Cup. Also in attendance were Joe Nolan, Maeliosa Power, Colin Rafferty and Joe Osborne of Bective Rangers FC,Philip McGoldrick of Lansdowne FC, Stephen O’Grady of Suttonians RFC and finally, Charlie Hamilton and Michael O’Flaherty of St Marys RFC.
This is a fun but competitive league for Veteran (Over 35) players in Leinster. Clubs are encouraged to play all their league fixtures, and hence raise as much money as possible for the Children's Medical and Research Foundation (CMRF), Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin 12.
Gerry Cully of CMRF kindly attended our meeting and spoke of the great projects being carried out at Crumlin Hospital for the children. Gerry spoke with gratitude of the funds raised by the league in the last two years and how every Euro raised is crucial, especially in these recessionary times. For more details, see www.cmrf.orgFinally, many thanks to Pat Cremin and Johnny Gallagher of Kielys for their hospitality on the night. |
