Bective Golf Outing

The annual Bective Golf Outing returned to the magnificent Powerscourt Golf Club this year, and what a fantastic occasion it proved to be.

Blessed with superb weather, a pristine course, and even better company, the day was a shining example of everything that makes Bective such a special club, both on and off the pitch.

What stood out most was the incredible representation from right across the club.  From Alickadoo’s and former players to Executive members, Past Presidents, First and Second team players, the Junior section, U20s, and even three ladies taking part.  The outing truly reflected the broad and vibrant community that continues to make Bective thrive.  It was wonderful to see so many generations and sections of the club coming together, sharing stories, laughs, and a healthy bit of competition along the way.

A huge amount of credit must go to the organising Committee of Brendan Crowley, Mark Hennelly, John Bolger, Richie Maybury, Paul Hatton, Jim Dwyer, Steve McGettigan and President Jimmy White.  Their hard work ensured the day ran seamlessly from start to finish and created an occasion that everyone involved will remember fondly.

With the course in immaculate condition, high scores were always on the cards, and the competition certainly delivered.  The team event was claimed by former players Brendan Crowley, Mark Hennelly, Ryan Ecock and Dan Crean with an outstanding 89 points.  Tanya Oliver captured the Lady’s Barniville Trophy.  The coveted Barniville Cup went to Johnny Behan, whose incredible 40-point haul saw him edge out Emmett Sheridan with a better back nine.

Above all else, the outing was a celebration of camaraderie, connection, and club spirit - a reminder that Bective’s greatest strength lies in its people.  Days like these strengthen old friendships, create new memories, and continue the traditions that make the club so unique.

A sincere thank you must also go to all of our sponsors whose continued support year after year helps make occasions like this possible.

Here’s to an even bigger and better outing next year.
