BECTIVE MOURNS THE PASSING OF SEÁN BARRETT

Seán Barrett, who passed away on 6 April was a long-standing member of Bective.  He played for the club in the late 1960s /early 1970s, at one time being part of a team captained by the legendary Brian Mooney. Following his playing days, he continued to serve as a committed supporter and his dedication to the club was recognised with his election as President for the season 2005-2006.  Despite having a busy life as a TD and Government Minister over a forty-year period, he found time to stand on the sideline and cheer for the club he loved and was a member of the touring party to Argentina in 2006/2007 season.  Over the years, he gave of his time and his valuable advice whenever requested and with his wife Shiela enjoyed many happy social nights in the clubhouse.

Seán will be fondly remembered by all as a true and dedicated Ranger and his legacy will live on in the club through his son-in-law Maelíosa (Wewa) Power whose son Luke plays on our under 20s team.

We offer our sincere sympathies Seán’s family.  May he rest in peace.
