GENERAL UPDATES

There was a fantastic atmosphere in Donnybrook last Saturday for the visit of close neighbours Monkstown FC.  A big thank you to our Mini’s for their support before the game, especially mascots for the day  Tom Lynch (U8) and Johnny Lynch (U9) adding to the occasion.  So a large attendance at the club with the 2 matches, preceded by 100 plus supporters and guests at the Pre Match Lunch hosted by President Jimmy White.  A perfect day.

The 1XV returned to winning ways with a great 5 try bonus point home win over Monkstown FC.  From the kick off, Bective hit the front to lead at the half time whistle and while our opponents rallied in the second half, it was Bective who finished the stronger to take the spoils.  The win moves Bective up to third in the AIL DIV 2C League table.

Last weeks MOM Chris Poole receiving a bottle of Bushmills from coach Ben Manion. Colm Egan, father of Oscar and master distiller with Bushmills kindly donated a case of Irelands finest whisky to the club last Saturday

Next up on this back to back home fixture run, we welcome Ballyclare to Donnybrook.  With memories still fresh from the 2023/24 All-Ireland Jnr Cup Final between the clubs, it promises to be another massive game.  There will be the Pre Match Lunch beforehand, to book, see details above.

Special mention also for the 2XV after their brilliant win also over Monkstown and moving the squad up to third in the Metro League table.

Always remember your support is key the teams success

CHANGES TO MEN’S ENERGIA ALL-IRELAND STRUCTURE FOR 2026/27

A central focus of the review has been on how to make the league more sustainable for clubs and players. As a result, the IRFU confirmed it will move ahead with plans to restructure Divisions 2B and 2C into Energia All-Ireland League 2BN (North) and Energia All-Ireland League 2BS (South) – starting from the 2026/27 season.

MEMBERSHIP IS OVER DUE

A big thank you to all the Rangers who’ve signed up for their membership on the new Smart Club App.

Members subscriptions are Bective’s most important source of revenue, ensuring that all the workings of the club run smoothly.  This revenue means that we continue to be at the heart of the community here in Donnybrook promoting rugby from Minis, Youths, U20’s through to our 4 Senior & Junior teams and keeping our fantastic recently refurbished clubhouse in tip top condition.  Without the support of these subscriptions, our sponsors and our volunteers and supporters, our club would cease to function.  Bective has had great success in recent years culminating in our return to the AIL this season and all the teams have made a great start so far to the 2025/2026 season.

The club is currently thriving, the season is up and running and each and every one of you are part of the Bective journey.  If you have not yet paid your subscription, we are asking all our members, players and supporters to please renew your membership for this season  as soon as possible.

As a reminder, this year we’ve moved to the Smart Club App. Using the link below 👇🏻 you can sign up to pay your subscription.

WEEK SCHEDULE

MINI & YOUTH RUGBY WEEKLY REPORT

🔴 STILL BASKING IN MUNSTER GLORY

Still riding high on Munster's triumph, Jonty "Munster" Lynch (Head Coach Under 8s — yes, we promoted him in the excitement!) volunteered his children to be mascots for the day for our first team's convincing win against Monkstown. He is utterly convinced that Tom Lynch (U8) and Johnny Lynch (U9) both ignited the Bective team's dominant performance. (We're not going to argue with him — he's on a roll!)

Would you like your child/children to be mascot for the day? Please DM Justin White — details are on the Mini and Youth page of the Bective website.

🛡️ SAFETY FIRST — KEEPING OUR RANGERS SAFE
Despite the half-term and a mini break in training for most teams, this has been a busy time for the backroom staff and coaches. We have been making sure that all our coaches are compliant with their safeguarding, Garda vetting, and coaching qualifications.

It's great to be able to report that Leinster have informed us that all our age groups are in the green! On top of that, in November a number of coaches will be furthering their skills by taking a Safe Rugby course run by the IRFU and hosted in the club.

Our ambition and goal is to have as many coaches qualified and equipped to handle whatever Mini and Youth rugby throws at them, which will result in us being over-compliant in all age groups. Safety is a big thing for us all, and I would like to thank all the coaches and parents for giving up their time to do these courses.

If you would like to take part in a Safe Rugby course, please DM Justin White — details are on the Bective Mini and Youth webpage.

💉 FIRST AID INITIATIVE
Staying with the theme of safety, we are hoping in November to have an information talk on general first aid delivered by Sarah Kearns (local parent, registered nurse, and first aid instructor) from HandsOnHealth. We will then run some CPR/First Aid certified courses if parents are interested on agreed evenings. Watch this space!

⭐ TEAM NEWS ⭐
Between the half-term and the Dublin Marathon, this weekend's activity was unusually quiet — but that didn't stop the Rangers!

UNDER 12s
Coach Colin Gaffney would never be one to let the weather, half-term, or the Dublin Marathon get in the way of his future Irish Lions squad-building. Some individuals detoured into different counties to get our CUS ground in Bird Avenue. It was well worth it and great exercise for the training matches versus DLSP for all the players who could make it. Hard, tough games all round.

A big shout-out to Luca, who fractured his pinky. Not to worry — sympathetic “Uncle Chuck” was there to help out as our qualified Safe Rugby coaches made their assessment. Proper Rangers toughness on display!

Well done, all!

🌟 SPECIAL MENTION
Congratulations to Head Coach Paul Hatton (Under 13s) and his coaching staff! After their grading matches, they will now be competing in Division 1. Great achievement by all the squad, embracing their mantra of "Unbreakable Brotherhood." Up the 13s!

🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🎃
We hope everyone is stocked up on treats and houses decorated for the big night! Wishing you all a happy and safe Halloween from all of us at Bective Rangers. May your trick-or-treating be bountiful and your rugby tackles remain on the pitch!
