MeSSAGE FROM A UNDER 10 parent on tour:

U10 Rugby Tour - Birmingham 2026

There’s something special about a rugby tour at this age or any age. It’s not just about the matches, it’s about the excitement, the friendships, and those little moments that stick long after the final whistle, like the extra Birthday cake!

From the moment we set off with 15 adults and 14 energised players, there was a buzz. 3 x vans and we were ready to go. For many, this was their first real “tour” experience, and you could see the mix of nerves and excitement written all over their faces.

Drayton Manor on Saturday had all the kids in excitement overdrive, and the dads wondering where could we watch the 1sts and have a beer!

Safe to say that was found and a group gathered around a pink laptop to watch Bective v Thomond!

Onto Sunday and Camp Hill Rugby Club. The kids rugby was fantastic to watch. What stood out wasn’t just the tries or tackles, but the teamwork. Players encouraging each other, picking each other up after knocks, and celebrating every small win together. You could really see how much they’ve grown from the brilliant coaching thy get every Friday and Sunday. Their skills have Improved, confidence Increased and understanding of the game improves all

Of the time. Well done to Camp Hill on a brilliant blitz day.

Off the pitch, the parents got to enjoy some lemonades, the kids got the freedom of the hotel and swimming pool. We shared meals (Brazilian all you can eat wowza), the endless laughter in between, the boys and girls really bonded. Friendships deepened, new ones formed, and there was a real sense of team spirit throughout the weekend.

From a parent’s point of view, it was brilliant to see. Watching them become a little more independent, supporting each other, enjoying 2 x birthdays (Darragh and Mischti) and just enjoying being part of Bective Rangers FC.

A huge thank you has to go to the coaches, 3 x drivers in Normal Justin, Handsome Justin and Emmet. A massive thank you to the sponsors ‘Spirit, Westcourt Management Services and Knowio. The effort that goes into planning a weekend like this doesn’t go unnoticed so a massive thank you to Justin White and Jamie Nolan. Everything ran smoothly, and most importantly, the kids had an unforgettable time.

As we headed home, tired, full of the 2nd Birthday cake, but very happy, it was clear this weekend was about much more than rugby. It was about memories, friendships, and a love for the game that’s only getting stronger. Hon Bective 🇭🇺

Here’s to the next tour!

UNDER 12s

Two games versus old Belvedere and one match versus DLSP meant that we had all our players on the paddock this week. Massive performances by all the team at different stages in the games. Training continues this weekend with the continued introduction of 15 side rugby

UNDER 13s

Bective 13 v Clontarf 19

Everything was put in place to ensure the boys were prepared for today and we all saw that they were not only ready but they represented themselves, their families and their club exceptionally well today. Yes we lost but there can only be one winner and we lost in what can only be described as a tight, tough, physical game between two class sides. We congratulate Clontarf on their win. We battled hard throughout and suffered 4 injuries in the first half but our finishers stepped in and stepped up and we never took a backward step. At 5 v 5 at HT we knew we had a chance. A penalty early in the second half allowed us convert to go 8 v 5 in front. Clontarf hit back with a converted try pushing it to 8 v 12. Not to be undone we pressured and pressured and eventually dotted down on the corner flag at the Wesley end. Conversion attempt fell short but it was a hell of an attempt. So with around 10mins on the clock we went back and forth up and down the park and after a well timed steal at a lineout on our 22 we missed out on a dubious decision that resulted in a scrum for Clontarf. After a few attacking plays they scored to go 13 v 19 in front. At that point we had to throw everything at it and got close to causing an upset on the scoreboard but it wasn’t to be on the day. Once the referees whistle blew the kids realised it was all over and disappointment set in.

We pulled them together to let them know that the game we all just watched was a cracker and one that could have swung either way - that’s a testament to both teams on what had to be the match of the day. As coaches, and parents, we couldn’t be prouder of them today. I know it’s a tough ask to accept defeat but it’s a part of sport and a part of life. We live to fight another day and we will……..

Thank you to you all for the huge support they received all season and especially today.

Onwards and upwards…..

UNDER 14s

the U14 progress to the next stage of the cup plate competition with a strong win against Lansdowne.

UNDER 15s

Well done to our  U15’s, playing  in a merged team with Lansdowne FC   (BL Rugby) in winning  Div 1 of the  U15 league last Sunday.

Final score  29 – 17,  against a strong  St. Mary’s team.

The match was played at Clondalkin RFC, big thanks to them for their hospitality and a fantastic pitch, and the referee for his command of a very competitive fixture.

The win was made all the sweeter with 11 different players in the match day 23 from last season’s league final team.   A special mention  to the team on how they played, their  defence was fantastic, constantly shutting down runners, and putting their bodies on the line. The  victory was  well deserved,  a just reward for their endeavour.

A huge shout out to the entire squad,   particularly those who held bags, ran opposition,  and provided vocal support  on the day,  a fair few of whom were ineligible to compete in the league, it is hugely appreciated, and helped us to achieve the win.

It is amazing to have 30+ training this deep into the season,   a huge thanks to all the parents, boys  and coaches for making this happen.

What a week to be a Ranger. Under 15’s take silverwear, Under 10’s went on a amazing tour to Birmingham and more than held their own on UK soil. Under 7’s were at the Kiran Burk festival and the Under 13’s played their heart out in  a narrow loss in the premier devision 1 final of the league. This is what Bective Mini & Youth Rugby is all about. Backs straight, heads up — the biggest weeks of the season are right ahead of us.

🏉 Up Bective! 🏉
