Rallying Call to Supporters
Last February, before our Leinster League season defining match v Seapoint, we issued a rallying cry to all Bective members to make an extra effort to turn up on the day and show your support. The response was outstanding - 220 for a sold out pre match lunch and c.1,000 fans up in the stand for a cracking match and atmosphere. The crowd in the clubhouse afterwards was unprecedented and most stayed till the late evening. Probably the best match day in Bective for years.
The emotional card can only be played every now and again. It’s that time now. Bective (4th) host Clonmel (1st) this Saturday in a de facto top of the table clash. We’ve waited 7 years to get back in to the AIL. 7 years to show ourselves on the National stage. 7 years of wanting to win an AIL division. And here we are.
After a hugely disappointing result up in Belfast, we return to Donnybrook for the last match before the Christmas break to try and defeat the runaway league leaders. The squad has been so invested in this league campaign and this club - your club, our club. We are carrying a few injuries which doesn’t help but what WILL help is the vocal and emotional support that you, we, us as members and supporters can bring to the ground to try and roar them home. We’re undefeated in Donnybrook this season. Nobody wants to play us at home. The supporters tunnel we create to clap the team out of the dressing room and the even better tunnel at the gate to roar them back off the pitch is something unique to Bective. The team continuously say that this unwavering support drives them on. Let’s not take that for granted.
So now the ask. Last game for 4 weeks. Top of the table battle. 160 confirmed so far for the pre match lunch. Please turn up. Please bring your kids. Please bring a friend. If everyone brings just one person along with them then we double our attendance. Think about that - it’s that easy. Please don’t sit at home and watch BRTV for this one day - you can watch it again on Sunday but this Saturday we really need all members to show their commitment. We need you on Saturday. It’s crucial that for this one day, you come down home to Donnybrook. We need you. Your attendance, your swelling our support, your roaring them on may just make the difference. If you can only make one match this season, make it this one.
Hon Bective!
