Results:

U12 AWAY Wanderers - This was the U12's first outing in a 15 aside training match.  They played 3 x 15 minutes.  The U12's performed really well considering this was their first outing at 15 aside and they battled hard in each of the 15 minute slots.  No doubt they will be working hard over the summer months to learn everything about 15 aside and Head Coach Paul Hatton will be putting them through their paces.

U6/U7/U8/U9 Westmanstown - Last Sunday saw our young stars tackle a brilliant Westmanstown blitz before conquering Fort Lucan.  Despite hard ground and roasting sun, the kids' energy was electric.  They showed incredible spirit with great runs, super tagging and teamwork.  The adventure then moved to Fort Lucan, where the excitement continued.  Unsurprisingly, after a day of non-stop action on the pitch and at the playground, everyone was thoroughly exhausted but happy.  Well done to all the children for their fantastic efforts and adventurous spirit.

U11 TOUR - Valencia - In glorious conditions, a travelling group of 24 players left Dublin on Thursday afternoon for Valencia.  Friday started with a spell in the pool and then a private tour of the Mestalla Stadium (home to Valencia FC).  After a hearty lunch, an evening training session was held with our hosts Rugby Club Valencia, followed by a soccer match between the clubs.

Saturday took us to Oceanografic (one of the largest aquariums in Europe), followed by an afternoon on the beach.  The day finished up with a team dinner overlooking the beach.

A blitz had been arranged on Sunday morning, and the Bective lads lined up against Rugby Club Valencia and C.P. Les Abelles for a morning of matches in a searing heat (at least by Irish standards).  The boys showed incredible spirit, teamwork and skills to come out with a fantastic record of 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss, despite playing against U12 teams on several occasions.  Our hosts showed great hospitality throughout and the players all shared a meal of paella after the matches, with more than one jersey swapped.

All in all it was a fantastic experience for the U11 squad who represented Bective with pride and they can all be rightly proud of themselves

CHUCK BYRNE HOSTING NIGEL OWENS

From the rain in Kilbogget Park or the wind of the Wicklow mountains to standing on an old shipping container against the Cooley mountains, all the way to living and breathing the highs and the stress of Bective commentary. Our very own Chuck Byrne has come a long way and now for one night only Chuck takes a break from embracing the Irish weather conditions and swaps his Bective commentary and fireside chats for an evening with the legendary rugby referee Nigel Owens.

On Friday the 27th of June in the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan, join Chuck hosting Nigel Owens as he shares insights, stories, and behind-the-scenes moments from his illustrious career.  This exclusive event will feature an in-depth interview with Nigel, followed by a raffle and an interactive Q&A session, where you’ll have the chance to ask him your burning questions.

Secure your tickets now and be part of an evening filled with laughter, insight, and plenty of classic Nigel Owens and Chuck Byrne wit!

BECTIVE MEN’S SHED

The ‘Bective Men’s Shed’ is for those retired members who can give an hour or two on a Thursday to devote to maintenance and development of our premises and for a meet up for tea/coffee.  We are keen to develop the rear of the pavilion so that it can be used during the summer months for outside eating/drinking and the group are currently working on this project.  The Men’s Shed meets on Thursdays at 12 noon in the clubhouse.
