Mini and Youths news
📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS 📢
We had a fantastic night in the clubhouse on Tuesday with the Under 10’s and 11’s being presented the gear by a star of Leinster, Ireland and the British and Irish Lions whose DNA bleeds Rangers.
Jamie Osbourne and are president Jimmy White were on hand to present the touring kit and offer some words of encouragement — for the Under 10s as they head into the heartland of Peaky Blinder country for the Camphill Rugby Festival in Birmingham, and for the Under 11s as they venture south to Limerick. A big thank you to our sponsors, Spirit Motor Group, KNOWiO by Innovate, and Westcourt Management Services Ltd. Please give these fantastic companies a follow on social media — their support makes tours like this possible.
The Under 11s head to the heartland of Munster Rugby — playing, and then visiting the iconic Thomond Park to watch the men in Red. A huge thank you to Elenfield Contractors Ltd for sponsoring this brilliant trip.

Sunday 17th May, we head to Westmanstown for a match and then next door for a fun-filled day at Fort Lucan. A massive thank you to Coach Jamie Martin Smith and all the staff at Fort Lucan for a third year of giving our kids and the club this brilliant opportunity. Looking forward to hearing all about the fun, the pizza, and seeing those photos!
⭐TEAM NEWS ⭐
UNDER 7s
A massive well done to our U6s and U7s for a phenomenal showing at the Belvedere Blitz on Saturday!
Despite the chilly wind, the enthusiasm and resilience from the players were absolutely off the charts. It was one of those special days where all the hard graft at training truly came together—the core fundamentals, teamwork, and smiles on the pitch were exceptional. Huge praise to the players for their brilliant rugby, and to our dedicated coaching staff.
UNDER 8s
U8s Blitz – Old Belvo
Our U8's had a great day out at the Old Belvo blitz on Sunday with three teams and two full hours of rugby (the boys powered through — the coaches struggled though!).
With over 300 players involved, it was a packed field, but our boys stood out — especially with their sealing, which was among the best on show and a real sign that the practice is paying off.
They played with great focus, toughness, and tackling throughout.
Highlights included crisps for mid-blitz fuel, post-match hot dogs, bouncy castle races, and a very welcome boost from Leo the Leinster Lion.
Brilliant turnout and effort all round — well done boys!
UNDER 9s
Thanks to everyone who came out to support at the Belvo Festival — especially given the conditions at times!
The boys thoroughly enjoyed it and played some really good rugby. Most importantly, they played in great spirits and dug in when they needed to.
That was our final year at this event, and if we take a step back and look at just how much these boys have improved since we first started there — we should all be enormously proud of them. What a journey.
UNDER 10s
The U10s hosted Old Wesley on the main pitch in Donnybrook. Good numbers from both teams meant we could run three teams each. Bective showed their continued defensive improvement throughout, with breakdowns ferociously competitive. Some big Wesley
runners gave us plenty of tackling practice — and we were well up for it. Honours just about even overall — a good morning’s work.
UNDER 11s
A mixed morning for the U11s against Old Wesley and Wanderers. Tackling, rucking, and handling were all very strong — but we came unstuck at times against bigger opposition. When momentum shifted against us we found it hard to stem the tide, and were under pressure for prolonged periods. Plenty of lessons learned, though, and all of them valuable ahead of the trip to UL Bohs in a fortnight.
UNDER 12s
Training week — but a significant one. The U12s ran their first full 15-a-side match on a full-size pitch. Embrace the chaos, lads. This is where the fun really starts.
UNDER 13s
U13s THROUGH TO PLATE SEMI-FINAL v Coolmine — Sunday 26th
Old Wesley 17 v 29 Bective
Tough conditions and tough opposition up in Ballychorus. The wind blew a gale, making handling treacherous, but the boys fought hard to reach half-time level at 12-12. A few knocks and some penalty decisions put us under further pressure in the second half, but this team has shown all season that they can face into adversity. We pushed the score to 12-24, and though Old Wesley were not done — responding with a try to make it 17-24 — a late Bective try put us out of sight and booked our place in the Plate Semi-Final against Coolmine on Sunday 26th. Two weeks. Get ready.
Well done to all the boys — another brilliant effort.
UNDER 14s
A disappointing exit from the league semi-final against Greystones — a really well-drilled side who deserved their victory. We didn’t use the wind advantage in the first half as well as we needed to, and it left us with an uphill battle in the second. These things happen. The response from the squad across the two matches was encouraging.
The squad split across two matches on the day:
A team: a tough loss in the semi-final. B team: a strong win. The Bs were excellent — well done to them!
UNDER 15s
League Semi-Final: BL Rugby 41-15 Coolmine (result on the day — with Coolmine conceding at kick-off). It matters not how you get there — the Under 15s are into the League Final next Sunday in Clondalkin. Details to follow. 🏆

What a week to be a Ranger. Three age groups heading into Finals, the Under 10s on tour in Birmingham, and Jamie Osbourne in the clubhouse inspiring the next generation. This is what Bective Mini & Youth Rugby is all about. Backs straight, heads up — the biggest weeks of the season are right ahead of us.
🏉 Up Bective! 🏉
